Representative Selections

The Parramatta Diocese Catholic Primary School Sports Council (PDCPSSC) is responsible for the provision of opportunities for primary students from eight years of age to participate in representative teams in a range of sports.


All primary students in Years 5 and 6 are eligible to participate and represent in AFL, Basketball, Cricket, Diving, Football (Soccer), Hockey, Netball, Rugby League (11 years), Rugby League (opens), Rugby Union, Softball, Tennis and Touch Football.

ELIGIBILITY - EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI) NOMINATION FORM

To be eligible for selection for these trials the 2023 CSPD Primary Sport TEAM Registration Form must be completed.

One form is to be completed per child, per individual sport.

Each sport has its own criteria therefore, it is imperative that the correct sport information is completed.

AFL GIRLS TEAM SPORT TRIALS INFORMATION - NSW Australian Football (AFL) Primary All Schools Girls 12 Years and Under Selection Trials

Australian Football – Girls Trials – nominate via NSWPSSA registration portal DASH for closest region for All Schools trials (The state is divided into 8 regions ) From the regional cross sector trials, teams will be selected and they progress to the 2 day NSWPSSA Girls Carnival. This trial is only for primary school girls 12 years and under. Girls can be 12, however must not be turning 13 in 2023. Girls enrolled in secondary school are ineligible to trial.

AFL Jersey and attire is to be worn - NO Representative uniform is to be worn

Mouthguards are mandatory for students to participate.

It is important to note that these trials are generally for those students that MUST demonstrate an ABOVE AVERAGE ability, HIGH LEVEL OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT or in particular sports demonstrate REPRESENTATIVE playing experience in their nominated sport. In most sports, students should have experience playing regular competition outside of school. 

It is very important to note that these trials are generally for those children who display an above average ability in their chosen sport. While teams are open in age it is strongly recommended that only children of a representative standard in Years 5 & 6 be invited to attend.

Students must attend the selection trials to be eligible for selection.

Any APPROVED student who cannot attend trials for any valid reason must contact the Primary Sport Teaching Educator (Margaret Thornton) prior to the trial. Selections will be made on performance at the trial. Selectors will be appointed based on their experience and background in a particular sport.

  • NSWPSSA Girls AFL Championships - Monday 15th - 16th May 2023 (Batemans Bay - CIS)

To be considered for selection in the NSW PSSA state team for participation at all School Sport Australia 12 Years & Under championships: Students must be turning between the ages of 10 and 12 in the year of competition i.e. Students turning the ages of 8, 9 and 13 in the year of competition are not eligible for NSW PSSA State selection.

Mouthguards are mandatory for students to participate at the Parramatta Diocesan AFL trial.

Hat, sunscreen, water bottle and appropriate footwear (conform to the laws of the game) must be worn by the student.

Boys
Due to the popularity of boys cricket a maximum of 2 REPRESENTATIVE children only are eligible to trial from each school.

Selection of the 2 boys will be made jointly by the school sport coordinator and principal.

Girls
Due to the small number of girls who nominate for cricket, the girls attend selections with the boys and are assessed for the Girls team.

A Boys and a Girls team will be selected with up to 10-14 students per team, who will represent Parramatta Diocese.

Sport Safety Guidelines

Helmets with a face guard, batting pads, gloves and protector are mandatory for students to participate at the Parramatta Cricket trials whilst batting and Rubber-soled cricket boots or sports shoes must be worn for hard wickets.

For the selection in the MacKillop Diving team to compete at the NSWPSSA Championships, an expression of interest form must be completed online via Catholic Schools NSW Sport website, click on the REGISTER button below. If you do not have a CSNSW Sport account on this website you will need to create one.

Notes About Selections

Students born 2011 - 2015 with diving experience may nominate for selection in the MacKillop Dive Team to compete at the 2023 NSW PSSA Diving Championships.

MacKillop does not hold diving selections for team selection.

3 students per division for will be selected based on experience, achievement and coach's recommendations in their nomination.

Successful students will be notified via email and progressed through the system on the website.

Information and registration process

2023 Expression of Interest Nomination is CLOSED for GOLF and will OPEN on csnswsport portal in 2023.

ELIGIBILITY

Any student in Years 3 - 6 at a NSW Catholic School affiliated with NSWCPS MacKillop entries are by individuals not as a team or school.

DIVISIONS

9 Hole Tournament - a participation competition. No golf link number or handicap required and suitable for beginner golfers and less experienced. (Must have some experience).

18 Hole Tournament - participants must have a golf link number and a handicap. This event is also used for selecting Polding and MacKillop teams to go to the NSW PSSA State Carnival in September.

EQUIPMENT

Each participant must provide their own equipment - clubs etc. Participants must wear their school sports shirt (and jacket). No caddies are allowed but we are always looking for volunteer walkers.

Entries are completed online via Catholic Schools NSW Sport portal, click on the REGISTER button below when it is opened.

If you do not have a CSNSW Sport account on this website you will need to create one. Upon entry, an email will be sent to your principal for their approval.

NSWCPS GOLF PATHWAY 2023 (BOYS & GIRLS) TEAM SPORT TRIALS INFORMATION 

9 Hole & 18 Hole Tournament is open to any Golf player who has a Golf Australia Handicap and a Golf Link Number.

Notes About Selections

Teams selections will be made from results of 18 Hole Handicap Tournament. Students must be a member of a registered golf club (AGU, WGA), Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation, or any Junior Development Program. Students MUST have a Golf Link Number and a Handicap.
