Representative Selections

The Parramatta Diocese Catholic Primary School Sports Council (PDCPSSC) is responsible for the provision of opportunities for primary students from eight years of age to participate in representative teams in a range of sports.


All primary students in Years 5 and 6 are eligible to participate and represent in AFL, Basketball, Cricket, Diving, Football (Soccer), Hockey, Netball, Rugby League (11 years), Rugby League (opens), Rugby Union, Softball, Tennis and Touch Football.

Students must be attend the selection trials to be eligible for selection. Any student who cannot attend trials for any valid reason must contact the Primary Sport Teaching Educator (Margaret Thornton) prior to the trial. Selections will be made on performance at the trial. Selectors will be appointed based on their experience and background in a particular sport.

School Sports Uniform or AFL attire is to be worn - NO Representative uniform is to be worn

20 selected students will represent either Parramatta Diocesan or Combined Parramatta/Sydney and participate at the NSW CPS MacKillop Trial held in Wagga Wagga on Friday 5th April 2019.

If selected in the MacKillop AFL team, they will represent MacKillop at the NSWPSSA AFL Championships from 21 - 23 May.



Sports Safety Guidelines

Mouthguards are mandatory for students to participate at the either the Parramatta Diocesan AFL trial or Combined Canberra/Goulburn, Parramatta & Wollongong Diocesan AFL trial. Refer to the NSW PSSA Sport AFL Sport Safety Guidelines.

Hat, sunscreen, water bottle and appropriate footwear must be worn by the student.

All relevant medical conditions should have been included on the nomination form. (e.g. asthma, bee stings, allergies etc).

Boys
Due to the popularity of boys cricket a maximum of 2 REPRESENTATIVE children only are eligible to trial from each school. Selection of the 2 boys will be made jointly by the school sport coordinator and principal.

Students must be attend the selection trials to be eligible for selection. Any student who cannot attend trials for any valid reason must contact the Primary Sport Teaching Educator (Margaret Thornton) prior to the trial. Selections will be made on performance at the trial. Selectors will be appointed based on their experience and background in a particular sport.

School Sports Shirt and White cricket pants are to be worn - NO Representative uniform is to be worn

10-14 selected students will represent either Parramatta Diocese or Combined Parramatta/Sydney/Wollongong team (TBC) and participate at the NSW CPS MacKillop Trial held in Wagga Wagga on Thursday 5th & Friday 6th September 2019.

Girls
Due to the small number of girls who nominate for cricket the selections may be paper-based or the girls may be invited to attend a Combined Girls Trial  prior to the MacKillop Girls Trials on 5th September.


Sports Safety Guidelines

Helmets with a face guard, batting pads, gloves and protector are mandatory for students to participate at the Parramatta Cricket trials whilst batting and Rubber-soled cricket boots or sports shoes must be worn for hard wickets.

Shinpads are mandatory for students to participate at the Parramatta Diocesan Football trial.

There is a NSWCPS 9 Hole & 18 Hole Tournament that is open to any Golf Player who has a Golf Australia Handicap and a Golf Link Number.

Notes About Selections

Teams selections will be made from results of 18 Hole Handicap Tournament. Students must be a member of a registered golf club (AGU, WGA), Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation, or any Junior Development Program. Students MUST have a Golf Link Number and a Handicap.

Must be enrolled in a CSSS affiliated school to be selected

Mouth guards are compulsory and head gear is encouraged to be worn to protect the ears and head. Appropriate footwear must be worn for students to participate at the Parramatta Rugby League trial and all pathway trials.

Notes About Selections

Student eligibility - Students born in 2007, 2008, & 2009 can participate. Students born in 2009, must contact Margaret Thornton to complete 2 Year Window exemption form. Please note 2009 students cannot trial for Diocese or MacKillop UNLESS this protocol is followed. No 13 year old students permitted.

This policy aims to protect the safety and welfare of age grade rugby players by trying to ensure that participants with broadly compatible physical development and skill levels play with and against each other.

If selected in the MacKillop Softball team the players will compete in the NSWPSSA Softball Championships:

  • GIRLS - 24th - 26th September 2019 (Curl Curl)

Sports Safety Guidelines

All fielders must wear a glove and shin pads are recommended for close infield players. Students are to wear appropriate footwear such as softball cleats or wear sports shoes. The designated catcher must wear a face mask, throat protector, chest plate, helmet, leg protectors and a genital protector (if applicable).

If successful and selected in the MacKillop Team the players will play at the NSWPSSA Tennis Championships in Inverell from 7th May - 10th May 2019.
